Most media in a Scalar book is not hosted within Scalar itself; instead, Scalar stores metadata — titles, descriptions, author and publisher information, URLs and more — about media which is hosted elsewhere.

What Media Sources can I Import From?
- Affiliated archives (See Importing Media from Affiliated Archives)
- Other archives (See Importing Media from Non-Affiliated Archives)
- Files and URLs (Upload local files or link to online media)
  - For guidance in finding online media, check out Carleton's Gould Guide to Media for Reuse
